"We Live in Fear"

This work shows how Latin America’s biggest favela continues to survive despite ongoing drug wars, which stop the city of Rio de Janeiro and exposes the urban tragedy produced by the great increase of favelas and the drugs’ trade. The film City of God showed the reality of the drug’s trade in Brazil and the criminal trail in the favela City of God in Rio. This exclusive story reveals the reality of the lives of people in Rocinha undergoing daily wars, with victims almost every day. This intimate portrayal tells the story of how this community is living their day to day with great resilience and grace. Brazilians are struggling to survive. Bruno Rodrigues da Silva is a "watcher" and his job is to watch out for the police and let the drug dealers know their every movement within the favela. He is 21 years old and was caught with army boots, a radio transmitter, a water bottle and army clothes for camouflage.

Maurinho was a drug-dealer belonging to the "Red Command". He was 26 years old and was shot by the police after a confrontation in one of the favela's alleys, during an police incursion.Maurinho is being carried in a wheelbarrow by a police officer.
