Arunachala - The Mountain of Living Light

Tiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu, Southern India – here the element of fire finds its sacred abode in the heart of Arunachala’s mountain. The Sacred Mountain's devout barefoot pilgrims make the 14km circumambulation of the mountain, stopping at eight famous lingams, especially on full-moon and festival days. The inner path is currently closed for the foreseeable future, however, this was the path Lord Shiva devotees used to take to reach the top of the mountain to visit the two caves where Sri Ramana Maharshi lived and meditated (1899–1922).
